John T Miller Iii

John T. Miller III, 89, of Rotterdam, passed away at his home, with his family at his bedside, on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. John was born and raised in Chicago, Ill., the son of the late John and Ruth (Ruby) Turner Miller. He served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1949. Working as a plumber, John was employed at General Electric and retired from the R & D Center in Niskayuna in 1993. John had a great desire to serve his community. He was Volunteer Firefighter for 37 years, first with the Charlton Vol. Fire Dept. and later was a member and past Chief with Rotterdam Vol. Fire Dept. Dist. #2. In addition to his parents, John was also predeceased by his loving wife and soul mate Esther Miller, who died in 2017, his son, John T. Miller IV, sister; Wanda Van Passen and brother; Michael Miller. He is survived by his daughter; Lois Stack of Milton, step daughters; Carol (Steve) Suhocki of Ft. Meyers, Fla., Laura Shambo of Rotterdam and Deborah Van Wormer also of Rotterdam, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. John was the best husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather ever. He will be dearly missed. A calling hour will be held on Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home Monday morning at 11:30 am. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
