Schenectady - John D. Micalizzi, 92, of Schenectady, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022 at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Center. John was a graduated from Draper High School in 1949. He joined the US Army serving in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was employed for 35 years as a Postal Clerk with the US Postal Service retiring in 1987. John was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. He was also a member of the Mt. Carmel Seniors, was active in the Mt. Carmel visitation ministry, and served as a eucharistic minister. He enjoyed spending his quiet time playing his guitar and Lowery organ. John was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Maria Postorino Micalizzi, his beloved wife, Maria “Lee” Micalizzi, who died in 2014, his brothers Fortunato Micalizzi and Joseph (Linda) Micalizzi and his sister, Tina Micalizzi. He is survived by his 2 brothers; Dominick (Donna) Micalizzi and Victor (Cathy) Micalizzi as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-6 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday 9:15 am from the funeral home followed at 10 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. John had requested memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church or to the American Diabetes Association.
