Rotterdam - John A. McDonald, 83, of Rotterdam, NY died peacefully at home on February 12, 2022 and is at last reunited with his beloved wife Arleen. Born in Schenectady, Jack was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. Following his service in the Navy and graduation from Albany Business College he began his career in accounting. He was employed for years with Cluett Peabody & Co. in Try, NY and grew his accounting/bookkeeping business simultaneously. Jack’s legacy was joining his father-in-law Edward Bianchi and forming the partnership Bianchi and McDonald, now a third-generation family practice. He led by example and couldn’t have been prouder of the work ethic and quality services provided to countless generations of families, friends and clients. He loved his family most of all and leaves behind children Lori (Chip) Malone, Steve (Sue) McDonald, Kevin (Soovje) McDonald, grandchildren Shauna, Ethan, Joshua, Jacob and Matthew McDonald. He was predeceased by his parents James & Leona McDonald and his twin brother Jim. Jack also leaves behind a niece, nephew and so many wonderful and cherished friends and neighbors. Jack will be remembered for his dedication to his favorite pastimes-traveling to Florida, golfing, bowling, horse racing and endless joke telling. He was a kind and gentle soul who loved his dogs, favorite sports teams and God. He maintained a strong faith throughout his lifetime. Jack touched the lives of so many with his generosity, humor, intelligence and compassion. The memories of his smile will brighten our lives and heal our broken heart. Our family would also like to thank his caregiver Renee Aldi who provided love and laughter to one stubborn Irishman!
