Schenectady, NY. John J. Lynch, age 90, passed away suddenly on October 17th at his home in Schenectady, New York, surrounded by his loving children.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on May 18, 1935, John was the son of Frank and Ann Lynch. A proud graduate of Mont Pleasant High School’s Class of 1954, he devoted forty years of his career to Schenectady Hardware and Electric, where he served as Electrical Superintendent. Known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit, John enjoyed playing golf and gave back to his community in Melbourne Beach, Florida, where he served as president of his homeowners’ association.
In 1958, John married the love of his life, Gail. Together, they raised four children and built a life centered on family, faith, and devotion. John cherished his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply. After retirement, he and Gail spent their years between their homes in Schenectady and Melbourne Beach, enjoying every day together.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gail, his sister Ann, and his brother Francis. He is survived by his sisters Joan McDonald, Carol (Ronald) Carpenter; Lois Wagner (Phillip) his four children, John (Alice) Lynch, Thomas (Loriann) Lynch, James (Deborah) Lynch, and Kathleen (David) Sanders; nine grandchildren, Craig (Justine) Lynch, Colin Lynch, Alexandra (Bradley) Neumann, Shannon Lynch, Keith Lynch, Suzanna (Joshua) Chappell, Ryan Lynch, John Sanders, and Kelly Sanders; and five great-grandchildren, Jackson Lynch, Carter Lynch, Palmer Neumann, Wesley Neumann, and Lucy Lynch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church 1235 State Street, Schenectady, New York on Friday, October 24th. Calling hours will be held from 11:30AM to 1:00PM with Mass following at 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to City Mission of Schenectady, 425 Hamilton Street, Schenectady, NY 12305.
