John P. Karbowski Sr., 90, of Rotterdam, died Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Schenectady, NY, John was the son of the late Chester and Regina Gronczewska Karbowski. John was an U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and was employed at the Schenectady Army Depot and later retired from the Watervliet Arsenal. He enjoyed sports, crossword puzzles and spending time with his loving family. In addition to his parents, John was also predeceased by his loving wife, Florence Makoske Karbowski whom he married on November 7, 1948, two brothers and one sister. John is survived by his four children; Barbara A. Bauda (John) of East Aurora, NY, Janet M. Schiavone (Louis) of Delanson, NY, June M. Karbowski (John Mrozek) of North Collins, NY and John P. Karbowski Jr, (Judith) of Rotterdam, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, his sister, Genevieve Kukla, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Community Hospice, 295 Valley View Blvd. , Rensselaer, NY, 12144
