John D Ivinski

John D. Ivinski, 57, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Glenville, John was the son of Yvonne Jamieson Ivinski and the late John Ivinski. A graduate of Scotia Glenville High School, John later received an Associate Degree from Schenectady County Community College. He was employed as a Courier for CSEA Employee Benefit Fund in Latham for 28 years. John enjoyed vacationing in Florida before moving there for several years. He and Kathleen returned to Schenectady for due to his illness.John was an avid bowler and was a member of several leagues. He managed the CYO Basketball team at St. Paul's for 10 years and was a member of the Schenectady Baseball Umpires and the Capital District Football Officials.John officiated at many high schools and local youth programs for over 20 years. He especially enjoyed officiating many of those games along with his son Derek. In addition to his mother, John is also survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Kathleen Cosgrave Ivinski,his son, Derek C. Ivinski of Lakeland, Fla., his sister, Robin Whiting of Schenectady, two nieces, Megan Whitingof Schenectady and Danielle Whiting of Ravena, his nephew, Richard Whitmanof Schenectady,father in law Leo (Liz) Cosgrave of Schenectady, his mother in law Barbara Cosgrave of Schenectady, brothers in law and sisters in law, Patrick Cosgrave of Schenectady, Matthew and Heather Cosgrave of KY., William and Elizabeth Whitman of Schenectady, Peter and Sandra Cosgrave of Schenectady and his uncle, Robert Jamieson of Rotterdam. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday, 10:15 am, followed at 11 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul the Apostle Church. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in John's memory to the Schenectady JC Little League, Oregon Ave. Schenectady, NY 12309.
