John “Jack” Thomas Healey, 95, of Schenectady, New York and Venice, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on April 14th, 1931, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York, Jack was the son of John and Leona Healey. He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1949 and proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955.
Following his military service, Jack worked for New York Telephone Company, Niagara Power & Light and General Electric before building a successful career in the insurance industry. He ultimately became the owner and president of Scautub Insurance Agency in Schenectady. Throughout his professional life, he was respected for his leadership and dedication, serving as Vice President of the New York Insurance Association and as a longtime member of the Rotterdam Kiwanis Club for more than twenty years.
Jack was also active in his communities. A former altar boy at St. Thomas Church, he carried the values of faith, service, and family throughout his life. In Venice, Florida, where he and his beloved wife spent their winters, he served as President of the Waterford Homeowners Association.
Above all else, Jack was devoted to his family. He shared a loving marriage with the love of his life, Alice Altieri Healey, and together they built a family that became his greatest source of pride and joy.
Jack is survived by his children, John Michael Healey (Debbie), Stephen Robert Healey (Patti), and Donna Rose Segatto (John).
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Altieri Healey, and his son, David Patrick Healey.
He was the proud grandfather of Sean, Ryan (Megan), Nicole (Kevin), John (Adrienne), Ashley (Adam), Michael (Michelle), Linda, Jae, Dean (Chloe), and Morgan, and the cherished great-grandfather of eleven great-grandchildren.
Jack found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: swimming laps in both Florida and the waters of Great Sacandaga Lake, spending winters in Venice, enjoying Sunday family dinners, savoring Alice’s cooking, and keeping close connections with those he loved through regular phone calls.
To his grandchildren, he was more than a grandfather—he was a constant source of love, encouragement, and support. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose warmth, wisdom, humor, and steady presence enriched the lives of everyone around him. His family will forever treasure the memories he created.
