Rotterdam – John W. Green, 76, passed away on Thursday, December 2nd, 2021. John was born in Schenectady to the late Erwin and Anna (Smiley) Green. He graduated from Burnt Hills High School in 1964 and worked as a mason with the Laborers’ Local 157. John was an EMT and former chief of the Mariaville Fire Department and a member of the Victory Mills Fire Department. He had lifetime membership in the Electric City Riders Motorcycle Club, refereeing at countless races and working as their secretary for nearly 30 years. John loved motorcycles and women. He was very involved in the Harley Rendezvous since 1984, starting on the fire crew, digging drainage ditches, clearing fields and taming no man’s land. He also took over as head of staff for the Ticket Booth in 1987. John is survived by his children, Allen, Laurie and Holly Green; granddaughters, Nichole and Alyssa Charbaneau; step-son, Gary (Tammy) Alikonis and his children, Nayeli and Kayden; step-daughter, Brandi Malewski and her daughter, Sommarah Whitbeck as well as his brother, Keith Green. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, David Green; one daughter, Natalie Green and his grandson, Gregory Green. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam, with a time of remembrance beginning at 7pm.
