John V. Cinquino

July 3, 1932 — July 18, 2023

Clifton Park - John V. Cinquino passed away at home on July 18, 2023, following a long battle with cancer. He was born in Schenectady on July 3, 1932, to the late Victor and Mary (Foti) Cinquino. John was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and received his Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Union College in 1954. He served in the United States Marine Corps 8th Engineering Division from 1954 – 1955, and in the Marine Corps Reserves until 1958.

On October 20, 1962, John married Beverly Patenaude. She was the love of his life and his best friend for 53 years. He cherished her memory and missed her every day since her passing in 2016. John and his wife were long-time communicants of St. Kateri Tekawitha Parish (formerly Our Lady of Fatima) in Schenectady, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling with his wife.

John was employed as a civil engineer and managing director at C.D. Perry and Sons until 1997. He then worked as a project manager for James H. Maloy, Inc. During his career he oversaw many construction projects including Freeman’s Bridge, the Gateway Bridge, and the Amtrak Rensselaer Rail Station Bridge. As a professional engineer John communicated his knowledge to fellow professionals as well as the field crews. He was respected and admired by people throughout the profession and building trades.

John held two United States Patents, one for a Bridge Scour Indicator and one for a Crane Boom Angle Indicator.

In addition to his parents and wife, John was predeceased by a daughter, Tara, his sister, Philomena, and her husband Carl Berg, brother, Michael and wife, Rose Cinquino, and brother, Victor Cinquino.

He is survived by his son, Michael (Alyssa) Cinquino, and daughter, Amy (Mike) Gentile, sisters-in-law Deborah Cinquino and Sharon (Roy) Torkelson, his nieces and nephews, Mary Susan Wibberly, Bobby, Greg and Celeste Berg, Regina Domenici, and Eric, Jason  and Sally Torkelson, as well several great nieces and nephews.

John’s children would like to thank Natalie Hyde, PA-C, for the genuine kindness and compassion she showed over the many years she was primary care provider for their parents. They would also like to thank Angel Pecak and Indra Marks who took exceptional care of their Dad in his final days.

A calling hour will be held Wednesday from 8:15-9:15 a.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish on Rosa Rd., Schenectady. Burial will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
