John W. Case Jr., 84 of Rotterdam, died peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late John W. and Theresa Hullett Case. John attended Draper High School and joined the United States Air Force in 1947. He was honorably discharged in 1951. John worked as a Carpenter with Local #370 in Albany for many years and retired in 1992. He is a former member of the Rotterdam Elks. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his vegetable garden and traveling. In addition to his parents, John was also predeceased by his sister Theresa Case. He is survived by h is beloved wife of 60 years, Marilyn Miller Case, his son;John W. Case III and his wife Margaret, of Scotia, two sisters; Phylis Lynch of Howard Beach, NY, and Joan Askew of Rotterdam, 5 step granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday morning from 10 am-12 noon at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery. John's family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff at Ellis ICU for their care and compassion during his stay there.
