John P. Camileo, 85, of Malta, NY, passed away on July 1, 2025.
Born on April 13, 1940, John built a hardworking career as a roofer before serving as the City Building Inspector for Schenectady, NY. A natural hustler with a love for antiques and collectibles, he enjoyed the thrill of auctions and the art of the deal. He had a passion for clocks—both collecting and repairing them. When he wasn’t striking a deal, he was on the golf course—a skilled player who competed in several local leagues, including the Canali’s and Schenectady Municipal leagues. John also loved horse racing, especially following his own
racehorse, Albert’s Hero. Despite his tough exterior, he had a soft spot for animals, particularly his cats.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Camileo; his sisters, Sandy Camileo and Shirley Fancisco; his son, Michael Camileo; and his longtime partner, Judy Clark.
He is survived by his children: Daniel Camileo, Ronnie Camileo, Lisa (David) Divincenzo, and Sheri Schneider; his grandchildren: Hanna Schneider, Sarah Divincenzo, Gianni Camileo, and Rufus Camileo; and his former wife, Connie Wooster.
John was a devoted father and grandfather, and will be remembered for his good humor, generosity, and passion for the things that brought him joy.
