Schenectady – John C. Balko, 91, passed away on Tuesday, October 11th, 2016 at his home surrounded by hisloving family. Born in Scranton, PA, John was the son of the late Kostandy and Rose (Slowek) Balko. John honorably served his county as a member of the US Army during World War II. He worked for many years as a craneoperator at the General Electric Company until his retirement. An avid outdoorsman, John loved fishing and camping with his family. John will be remembered as a thoughtful, kind and generous husband,father, grandpa and great-grandpa. No matter what, he was always there to lend a helping hand. John in predeceased by his daughter, Linda Alfieri and his sister, Mary Balko. John leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 years, Margaret (Mazzucco) Balko, his son, Michael Balko, Sr., brother, Stanley Balko, sister-in-law, Isabelle Zanta (Ray), 4 grandchildren, Wendy Mulqueen (Brian), Michelle Alfieri, Jessica Thompson (James) and Michael Balko, Jr. (Cheryl). Healso leaves behind 11 great grandchildren and one on the way, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held onFriday, October 14 at 2 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave.,Rotterdam. Interment will followat St. John’s Cemetery.
