Joanne Readdean, 86, passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2026.
Born in Albany, NY, in 1939, Joanne was the daughter of Edna Grumbley and William VanAmburgh.
Joanne graduated from St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing in Albany, NY, and spent 50 years as a Registered Nurse, touching countless lives through her dedication, wisdom, and deep compassion.
Joanne enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. She was an amazing cook and baker. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Maine, and loved the ocean. She built a life centered on hard work and love for her family.
Joanne is survived by her children, Julianne Readdean, Kevin (Bethany) Readdean, and Melanie (Phil) Rankin; her grandchildren, Christopher (Emma) Williams, Timothy Readdean, and Sarah Readdean; her step-grandchildren, Phil, Courtney, and Kyle Rankin; as well as her sister, Kathleen VanAmburgh.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Joanne's care team from Unlimited Care of Albany and Community Hospice of Schenectady, who provided outstanding service and care up to the end.
Family and friends are invited to gather for Calling Hours on Tuesday, May 26, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, located at 3500 Carman Road, Schenectady, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 Noon.
To honor and celebrate Joanne's life, feel free to wear yellow or a colorful floral pattern, as those were her favorites.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joanne’s name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
