Rotterdam – Joanne Parker, 81, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, November 14th, 2022. Born in Schenectady, Joanne was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Costello) Duffany. After marrying her beloved husband, John “Bruce” Parker while he was in the service, Joanne and Bruce travelled and lived in various places including Georgia, Greece, Texas and upon Bruce’s retirement from the military, back to New York where they settled. Once back in Schenectady, Joanne began working at Cappiello’s making cheese and then moved on to the housekeeping departments of Baptist Nursing and Rehabilitation and finally SUNY Albany. In Joanne’s free time she loved to gamble, whether at casinos locally, trips to Las Vegas with her daughter Antoinette or scratch offs, if she had luck or not, she always had a good time. Joanne would do anything for anyone and was always willing to help others without a second thought. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Joanne leaves behind her devoted daughter, Antoinette Marhafer; her brothers, Joseph Duffany and George Premore; sister, Maryann Premore as well as her dear friends, Angie Petrucci and Jeannie DeSorbo. Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John “Bruce” Parker in 1989; her sister, Angeline Polmaine; her son-in-law, Roger A. Marhafer and her gambling partner, Freida Chamberlain. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-5pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin on Monday morning at 10am at the funeral home. Joanne will be laid to rest with her husband at Park Cemetery in Scotia.
