Mrs. Joanne T. Miller, 83, of Rotterdam passed away on Wednesday January 29, 2025 peacefully at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on December 11, 1941 to the late Anthony and Raphaela Lomio of Schenectady. Joanne attended local schools, graduating from Mont Pleasant High School, the class of 1959.. She was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Pleasant St., Schenectady. Joanne loved being a homemaker, where she raised her daughter and best friend, RaeAnne. She was employed by Pioneer Savings Bank, retiring after 22 years of service. On July 12, 1964, Joanne was united in marriage to the love of her life, Mr. James “Jimmy” Miller, and together they shared 67 wonderful years. Joanne loved spending time with her family and friends, she enjoyed small getaways to the ocean with her husband and family, she also loved cooking Sunday and holiday dinners for her family. Everyone loved Joanne’s delicious sauce, meatballs, eggplant parm, Easter ham pie, and her golumpki’s. She enjoyed spending time with her three great-nieces, Gianna, Toni, and Ava, who held a special place in her heart. Joanne loved spending time gardening and sitting on the deck enjoying a cup of coffee with her husband and their dog, Eli. She also enjoyed watching the NY Giants with Jimmy.
She is survived by her cherished daughter, RaeAnne Miller (Don Cavanaugh); special nephew and god-son, David Shultes; and many other special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James Miller; sister, Annette Angerami; and her special niece, Danielle Demassio. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Albany visiting nurses association and hospice nursing staff, who provided the utmost care and comfort to Joanne.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday February 8th from 9:30 to 11:30am at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow and take place at 12pm at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd., Rotterdam. Following the service, Joanne will be laid to rest at Sts Cyril & Method Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Joanne’s memory to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
