Joanne (Capitumino) Covert

Rotterdam – Joanne Covert, 82, passed away at home on Wednesday June 13, 2018. Born in Schenectady she was the daughter of John & Marie (Santa) Capitumino. Joanne grew up in Schenectady and was a 1954 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. She moved to California with her husband, Brad whom she married on November 19, 1973 and moved back after his death in 1984. Joanne then worked for New York State for many years before retiring. She is survived by her cousin, Joseph Giannone of Schenectady. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other cousins. Along with her parents she was predeceased by her beloved aunt, Josephine Giannone. A calling hour will be held Saturday from 9:30 am – 10:30 am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam followed by an 11 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 1255 Pleasant St., Schenectady. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Joanne’s memory to the Ronald McDonald house 139 S.
