Princetown- JoAnn DiCocco McClaine, 65, passed away peacefully at home, early Sunday morning, December 22, 2013,surrounded by her lovingfamily, after a 5 year fight with cancer ,characterized by her dignity, grace and courage. JoAnn was predeceased by her parents, Lorenzo and Angela (Ruggiero) DiCocco;step mother Genevieve DiCocco; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Beverly McClaine; step mother-in-law,Charlotte McClaine and baby daughter Angela McClaine. JoAnn was a mother who"knew everything" and shared her great love, faith and generosity with her family and all those she met. She often enjoyed long marathon shopping trips with friends and many losing trips to the Racino. Joann worked for 11 years with NYS in both the Department of Motor Vehicles and Department of Health, starting two weeks after graduating from Draper High School. Most recently, JoAnn spent the last 30 years as Business Project Manager for Gentiva Health Services. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Douglas, who cared for her every day until her passing; her son, Douglas (Colleen); daughter, Dana (Kevin) Payton; brother, Robert DiCocco; sister, Lori (Kevin) Cannon. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Marc (Carol) and Roger (Christine) McClaine; sister-in-law, Jody (Roger) Pitman, several nieces, nephews and 12 Godchildren.At the center of her world and loves of her life were her grandchildren, Mia, Ty, Kiana, Kaylana, Zakary, Dakota and Landon. Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 26, from 4:30 to 7:30pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin Friday 8am at the funeral home followed at 9am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd., Rotterdam. Burial will follow in St. Cyril/Method Cemetery, Rotterdam. The family would like to thank the great group at New York Oncology and Hematology of Albany who befriended JoAnn and provided tremendous care to her, as well as the family and her special friends who supported her during her battle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in JoAnn's name be made to the American Cancer Society, Coaches vs. Cancer, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, N.Y. 12110
