Joan M. (French) Foster

Joan M. (French) Foster, age 93, of Schenectady, N.Y passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center.

She was born on January 31,1932 in Rensselaer, N.Y., the daughter of William E. French and Luella (Anthony) French.  She had 4 brothers, William (Marion)French, Paul (Margo)French, Reverend John F. French and James French.

She attended St John’s Academy and worked for Society of the Propagation of the Faith prior to getting married. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Foster, loving mother of Mary Beth (Michael) Pfeiffer, William (Susan) Foster, Judith (Dennis) Mills and Joanne Foster. Joan is survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great children.

Joan and Bob were one of the founding families of St Gabriel the Archangel Church in Rotterdam.  Joan became very involved, She sang in the choir, belonged to the Women’s club and taught Religious Education.  She regularly took part in school activities, including homeroom mother, lunch monitor, and field trip chaperone.  Her children fondly remember their birthday parties, vacations, and holidays, affectionately planned by their mom.

A  visitation will be held at St Gabriel the Archangel Church, Hamburg St., Rotterdam on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 10:30-11:15 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be held at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.

The family asks that flowers not be sent, Joan would have preferred donations to St Gabriel the Archangel Church.
