Joan A. (Pacelli) Cardinal

Rotterdam – Joan A. Cardinal of Rotterdam passed away Saturday May 13, 2023 after an illness. Born March 9, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Teresa (Santoro) and Arthur Pacelli.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years Edward Cardinal. Joan is survived by her children Kathy (Alan) Seymour, Edward (Michelle) Cardinal, her grandchildren Jason (Rachel) Seymour, Kevin (Jillian) Seymour, Alexandra Cardinal and Rachel Cardinal, her sister Rosemary (Dave) Graff, three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.

Joan graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and worked as a secretary at the Schenectady Gazette, General Electric and Manpower. She was a Mohonasen school aide and past member of the Rotterdam Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Joan loved summers on Sacandaga Lake, was a devout Catholic and founding member of St. Gabriel’s Parish and enjoyed walking with her husband.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gabriel’s Church 3040 Hamburg St., Rotterdam. There will be no calling hours and private burial will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to City Mission of Schenectady 425 Hamilton St., Schenectady, NY 12305.
