Joan W (Wiedenhoft) Bluhm

Schenectady - Joan W. Bluhm, 94, of Schenectady, passed on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Eddy Village Green in Cohoes. Joan was born on December 16, 1926, in Brooklyn, NY, the second child of the late Julius Wiedenhoft and Winifred Casey Wiedenhoft. She graduated from the Long Island College Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Joan also attended St. John’s University and Russell Sage College. In the 1950’s, Joan worked as an RN at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. She later worked for 27 years as a Nurse-Teacher with the Schenectady School District retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Registered Nurse Club at Ellis Hospital and volunteered at Proctors Theater for 22 years. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law; Robert and Janet Wiedenhoft. She is survived by her children: Peter (Valerie) Bluhm of Lee MA., William (Christine) Bluhm of Scottsdale, AZ. and Patricia (Dennis Wendell) Bluhm of Ballston Spa, She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Sara (Lenny),Abigail (Kyle),Jason, Alexander (Colleen), Samantha,Joseph andRodney (Becca), as well as sevengreat-grandchildren: Paxton, Cyrus, Jace, Bailey,Declan, Rylee and Carlee,and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 30th, 11 am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike (Rt 20) in Guilderland. A committal service will follow at Memory GardensCemetery in Colonie. Memorial donations may be made in Joan’s memory to Community Hospice, 310 S. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208.
