Van Patten, Jeffery Dean “Jeff”, Guilderland, NY. Jeffrey Van Patten of Guilderland, NY passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 18, 2020. He was born on February 4, 1951 in Albany, NY and was the son of the late Emerson and Elizabeth M. Van Patten. Jeffrey was raised in Guilderland, NY and was a graduate of Guilderland Central High School, class of 1969. It was in 1972 when Jeff met Jill A. Moriarty walking her rabbit on a leash down Route 20 and that’s where their story began. They married in 1976, where they settled in Guilderland and started a family. Jeff joined Verizon at the Watt Street garage in Schenectady, NY where he worked as a lineman and retired after 30+ years. What Jeff valued most in life was his family, his vacations to Cape Cod and his ability to donate to numerous charities. This included dressing up as Santa Clause for many years with his dear friend Danny O’Sullivan, handing out gifts donated by Verizon to the children at Albany Medical Center. Jeff’s pride and joy in life were his three children, Kourtney, Korinne and Kyle. To know Jeff was to love him. He was a friend and helper to all, all his life. He had the gift of talking to everyone he met and after a few minutes they were chatting as lifelong friends. He was the king of jokes and sarcasm always followed by his contagious smile. Jeff was a die-hard Mets and Jets fan and loved watching them play even though they lost more than they won. Jeffrey is survived by his loving wife, Jill A. Van Patten (Moriarty); his devoted children, Kourtney (David) Van Patten, Korinne Van Patten and Kyle (Michelle) Van Patten who will miss him dearly; his grandchildren who loved their “Pop Pop” so much, Caden, Brinley and Olivia; brother to Jay (Tara) Van Patten III, Linda (Lee) Sornberger, Jan (Gail) Van Patten, Chris (Carlene) Van Patten and Lisa (Patrick) Clark; brother-in-law to, Kenneth (and the late Regina) Helm, Sr. Carol Engel and Thomas Moriarty; nephew to Theresa O’Hare and Hannah Ivers whom he had a very special bond with; and also survived by his cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. Private immediate family service will be held at Demarco-StoneFuneral Home, 5216 Western Ave, Guilderland, NY 12084.
