Jeannette Mastrianni, 95, entered into eternal life in God’s hands on October 23rd, 2016 at her home in the care of her loving daughter Sharon. Born and educated in Schenectady, New York, she is the daughter of the late Johann (John) Filar and Wladislawa (Ida Michnik) Filar. Jeannette was co-owner with her husband Fred of the Dutch Mill Nursery and Garden Center on Carman Road in Guilderland for over 30 years. While Fred was busy with the landscape division, Jeannette headed up the retail end and indoor plant and flower division always greeting customers with a wonderful smile. Jeannette amazed family and friends with her knowledge of plants and was able to recite the Latin and common plant names, and care requirements whenever questioned. Later, Jeannette and Fred established the Dutch Mill Antique and Flea Market at their property and donated their landmark Dutch Windmill in 1992 to the Town of Rotterdam which can be seen at the Nature Trail entrance off Campbell Road. An avid lover of music, Jeannette was quite proficient on the piano and played beautifully, favoring classical music. She also had a collection of player pianos and loved to entertain with her vast inventory of player piano rolls. She was very musical and also played the organ and accordion. Animals were also her passion and she adored the many animals she shared her home with, most recently her poodle Pixie and family cat Jake. She also enjoyed watching the wildlife and birds that are abundant on the property. Jeannette was a beautiful, loving, intelligent, exceptional woman who loved her family dearly. Jeannette was predeceased by her husband Fred, married 66 years. She is survived by her children, Vincent J. Mastrianni Sr. (Gaye) of Guilderland, Janet M. MacCollam (Kevin) of Clifton Park and Sharon M. Mastrianni-Kumiszcza (Joseph) of Cumberland, Maine. Also surviving are four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Jeannette is greatly loved and missed by her family and will remain forever in their hearts. A funeral service was held privately at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home in Guilderland.
