Jeanne M (Reilly) Aviles

Rotterdam - Jeanne Marie Aviles (Reilly), 70, passed peacefully to the arms of Our Creator Friday, November 25, 2022 enveloped by the love of her husband of almost 47 years, Pedro (Pete) Aviles. Born in Brooklyn, raised in the Queens, Jeanne and Pete moved to Schenectady in 1981. She attended Catholic schools in Queens and Brooklyn. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Industrial Arts Department, NYC Board of Education, as well as at Power Technologies (Schenectady), Northeast Parent and Child Society, and the School of Social Welfare, UAlbany, before retiring in 2018. Cooking, baking and sharing her joy of life were her passions as well as being an avid reader, toll painter, glass-cutting and working with ceramics. She was a communicant at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish (Rosa Road) and was a past member of the Social Committee, Parish Council, Church Choir, Prayer Circle, Stamping club and volunteer receptionist. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her nieces Jennifer Elrod (Beer) of Murfreesboro TN, Jennifer Nascimento (Pagan) of Culver City CA, Emimarie Aviles (Suris), Lauren Montalvo (Suris), nephew Michael Pagan Carlsbad CA, several great nephews and nieces, cousins, and life-long friends Lillian Mitchell, Elfie Livermore and Charles Lorey. Calling hours will be from 5-7pm Monday, November 28 at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam NY 12306 with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Kateri’s 2216 Rosa Road, Schenectady NY 12309, Tuesday November 29 at 9am. We are grateful for the incredible kindness and loving care she received from Rafena Panday (caretaker) and while at Ellis Hospital, especially the nurses and doctors in the A-5 section and particularly the exceptional Palliative assistance and support provided by Community Hospice of Schenectady County. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Ministry at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish.
