Janet E (Ward) Rapant

Schenectady-Mont Pleasant - Janet E. (Ward) Rapant, 69, passed away on Tuesday, May 28th, 2013 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 8, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Charles & Ethel Ward. She attended St. Joseph's Academy on Lafayette St, Schenectady, for 10 years and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1961.She worked for the Schenectady County Department of Social Services for 23 years before she retired due to her illness.She was a long time communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Schenectady. Janet was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Marguerite Ward-Curcio.Survivors include her daughter, Robin Bryant and her husband, Paul; her son, James Rapant; her step-grandchild, Paul Bryant, Jr.; long-time devoted companion Frank Scaia; her two sisters, Barbara Gillooley (Michael) and Mary Alice Fields (Donald); her three brothers, Richard Ward (Susan), James Ward and Dennis Ward (Patricia); and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin Friday morning at 9:15 a.m., then to St. Joseph's Church, Lafayette St., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Kings Road, Schenectady.
