d. August 17, 2017

Janet Vinciguerra Hoggins, 74, of Glenville, died suddenly on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was a former resident of the Holiday at the Atrium in Glenville. Born in Niskayuna, NY, Janet was the daughter of the late Anthony and Eva Semo Vinciguerra. Following her graduation from St. Columba High School in Schenectady, Janet served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1962. She returned to school and graduated from the Mildred Elly School. Janet worked as a receptionist for several years for Dr. Jay Shecter in Schenectady and later worked over 20 years with the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany. As a young person, Janet had a tremendous love for dance, and spent many after school hours dancing at the Sugar Shack in Schenectady. As an adult she loved to play Pinochle and Rummy. She was a regular attendee of the Glenville Senior Center and was known as the BINGO Queen at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Janet was a very kind, sweet person. She would call everyone an affectionate "honey.” She loved life, music and her soap operas! In addition to her parents Janet was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenneth E.
