Janet M. Hoard, 72, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 23, 2015. Janet was born in Rochester, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Mae McLaren Tuscher. She was employed as a Key punch operator for the New York State Department of Civil Service in Albany retiring in 2002. Janet loved to sew, crochet, do crossword puzzles, read true crime books and was a fan of 1950's music. In addition to her parents, Janet was also predeceased by her beloved husband; Ronald E. Hoard, and her son, Steven Hoard. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Powell of Rochester, her daughter in law, Nicole Frenza, two sisters; Nancy (Richard) Crandell and Susan (Ronald) Backer, her brother, Charles Tuscher Jr, two grandchildren; Benjamin Miles Hoard and Jessica (Zachary) Whitcomb, two great grandchildren; Hayden and Quinn Whitcomb as well as many nieces and nephews and her girlfriends at civil service. Janet's family is grateful to the staff and personal care aids at Kingsway Nursing Center for their care and attention during her time there. Calling hours will be held on Thursday morning from 9-10 am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at 10 am, at the funeral home.
