Janet L Carnright

Rotterdam- Janet L. Carnright passed away on Friday, May 28th at Ellis Hospital. She was born in Albany, NY on November 23, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Christian and Jane Anderson Theisen. She was happily married to Richard T. Carnright for 64 years. Janet graduated from Draper High School in 1954 in the top five of her class. She worked as a secretary at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory from graduation to the birth of her first child. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church, sang in the choir, and was on the worship team for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano, writing poetry, and water color painting. She was an avid reader and could often be found reading her bible. Janet and Richard traveled to many places across the globe, and went on several cruises together. They made a trip of a lifetime to the Holy Land in 2011 with Rob and Margaret. Many knew Janet for her warm hospitality to anyone in need, welcoming them into her home for shelter and food. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her children, but especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Richard, her children; Robert (Margaret) Carnright, Richard (Linda) Carnright, Christian (Nina) Carnright, and Janine (Thomas) Jones, her 9 grandchildren; Sarah (Kevin), Rebecca (Mitchell), Thomas (Samantha), Elisha, Joel (Aimee), Shelby (Tylar), Victoria (Brandon), Jessica (Brian), and Aaron (Kelsey), her 5 great-grandchildren, as well as many close friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Christian and Jane, and her great-granddaughter, Whitney. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 3 from 11am-1pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Schenectady, NY. A funeral service will take place at 1pm at the funeral home. Janet will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie, NY. Memorial Contributions may be made in Janet’s name to the Lighthouse Food Pantry, 4780 Duanesburg Road, Duanesburg, NY 12056.
