Janet C. Amoroso

Rotterdam – Janet C. Amoroso, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Monday August 24, 2026.

Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Carmela and Sesto J. Spina.

Janet graduated from Mont Pleasant HS in 1969, and Schenectady County Community College (1971). On July 22, 1972 she married Charles M. Amoroso.

Janet worked as a secretary for GE in the 1970’s before leaving to raise her children, her favorite vocation. She later returned to work at SCAP Headstart, where she worked as a secretary for several years before retiring.

She also received Certificates of Appreciation from the Department of the Army and New York Army National Guard, upon the retirement of her husband, for unselfish, faithful and devoted service.

Janet Loved her husband Chuck and her two daughters Jennifer and Jaclyn Amoroso. They were always in her thoughts and actions. She also loved her grand dogs Stella and Lou, who provided extra joy to her day.

She is also survived by her siblings, Nancy Spina, Michael Spina (Wendy), Fred Spina (Phyliss) and nieces and nephews Dominick, Rachele, and Michael Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday August 31st from 10:30-12:15 at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave. A 1pm Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Luke’s Church 1241 State St., Schenectady.

Burial will be in Sts. Cyril & Method Cemetery, Rotterdam.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janet’s name to Lucky Puppy Rescue in Argyle, New York.
