SCHENECTADY - James Anthony Troiano, 56, passed peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born in Schenectady, NY.Jim graduated from Schalmont High School and Schenectady County Community College where he received a degree in Electrical Technology. Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1977-1981, where he received numerous awards, prior to being honorably discharged.Jim was member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 88.He retired from the NYS Thruway Authority where he spent most of his career as an equipment mechanic.Jim was also an accomplished wood craftsman. Jim was predeceased by his loving mom, Louise (Spina) Troiano.He is survived by his companion Claudia Fisher, father, Anthony Troiano, brothers, Carl (Sandra) Troiano, Kenneth (Denise) Troiano and Edward (Lynn) Troiano.Jim is also survived by his niece Michelle Troiano and nephews, Brian Troiano, Joseph Troiano, and David Troiano. Calling hours will be held at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg, Ave. in Rotterdam on Thursday, January 15, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.Burial, with military honors, will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Child Life Program at Albany Medical Center, Office of Development, 43 New Scotland Avenue, MC-119, Albany, NY 12208 or Volunteers in Mission, PO Box 106, Valley Falls, NY 12185 (Disaster Relief Organization).
