James Strazza

Rotterdam – James Strazza, 81, passed away on Sunday, April 22nd, 2018 after a brief illness. Jim was born on November 3rd, 1936 in Schenectady, New York to his parents James and Marion (Nellis) Strazza. Jim was a graduate of Draper High School in Rotterdam, NY. Jim was passionate about his work. He owned and operated “James Barber Shop” on Guilderland Avenue in Rotterdam for over 40 years. Jim honorably served his country in the United States Air Force throughout Europe from 1955 to 1958. He was a 32 year member of the Rotterdam Elks Club. He was also a long time member of the former Our Lady of Assumption Church. Jim enjoyed playing golf and also was a member of the Rotterdam Merchants Bowling League. Additionally, he was an avid member of the “reclining club” while enjoying his favorite sports teams: Notre Dame, the Yankees and the NY Giants. On November 29th, 1958, Jim married his beloved wife, Beverly (Reinhart) Strazza, who passed away in 1996. He is survived by his two daughters, Loreen (Jeff) Pelicone of Rochester, NY, and Lisa (Patrick) Case of Rotterdam, two granddaughters whom he adored, Andrea and Alyssa Jackey, and his brother, Roccie (Lynda) Strazza of Virginia. He is also survived by his long-time companion Elizabeth (Betty) Zotta. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam, on Thursday, April 26th, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, April 27th, 2018 at 10am at St. Cyril Cemetery, Duanesburg Road, Rotterdam.
