James Anthony Sheedy

Rotterdam/Myrtle Beach: James Sheedy, 62 passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Jim was a warrior, fighter, survivor and a hero. Jimmy started his career in 1988 at Albany County Sheriff’s Department as a Corrections Officer and held this position for 26 years. During these years he was a long time member at the Guan-Ho-Ha Fish & Game Gun Club and enjoyed target practice with his friends and family. Following retirement he worked security at Schalmont High School and at the baseball hall of fame in Cooperstown, New York. Jim was kindhearted and lived life to the fullest. Jim had a passion for Tae Kwon Do where he held a 4th degree black belt. He often assisted with classes and placed in tournaments. Aside from Tae Kwon Do he enjoyed playing golf with family and friends as well as staying in and watching football. Throughout the years Jim underwent numerous health issues including a kidney transplant in 2008. Despite all of this he always held his head high with hope and positivity. He would often travel to Myrtle Beach which was his place of zen. Jim loved the warm weather and felt peace by the ocean. Jim was very close with his grandchildren and loved being a papa.

Jim was predeceased by his father James J. Sheedy, his mother Nicolina Stimpson followed by his two brothers Joseph J. Sheedy and Michael J. Sheedy.

Jim is survived by his brother Paul J. Sheedy, his sister Sandra M. Sheedy and his stepfather Rev. Peter Stimpson (Lauren Stimpson).

He is also survived by his twin daughters Lindsey Shultes (Wayne Shultes), Meredith Pellegrine (John Pellegrine) and his former wife Ellen Sheedy.

He had four grandchildren Cadence Shultes, Harley Shultes, Lincoln Pellegrine and Kelsey Pellegrine.

Jim was cherished by many and will be sadly missed by numerous family members and friends. He was warm hearted and an inspiration to all.

Calling hours will be held Thursday February 5th from 4-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam.
