James William Relyea

James William “Jim” Relyea, age 77, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Baptist Health Center in Scotia.

Jim was born on April 17, 1948, in Schenectady, NY, to the late Gerald and Dolores (Gregoire) Relyea. For the majority of his life, Jim worked at the former St. Clare’s Hospital in Schenectady. In his free time, he enjoyed watching Star Trek and cheering on his New York Yankees. Jim gathered with his large family at his parents’ home for Sunday Dinners, a tradition he cherished deeply.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Hollis Relyea; his loving children, Jennifer D. (Kristopher) Yager and James P. (Wanda) Relyea; and his adored grandchildren, Brennan and Liam Yager, along with recent additions to his growing family, Israel and Carlos Vazquez and Samuel and Sally Villar. He is also survived by his siblings: Bob; Donna (Tom); Jerry (Lucy); Tom (Joyce); Steve (Wendy); Gayle (Tod); and Diane (Val).

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brother, Doug, and his sister-in-law, Lori.

A Memorial Service for Jim will be held on Saturday, January 3, at 11:00 a.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam, NY. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family, this spring at Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim’s name to Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery.
