Rotterdam- James T. Pollacek, 82, passed away on April 27, 2017, at home surrounded by his family after a brief illness with lung cancer. Born in Brooklyn, James moved to Rotterdam in 1955 to wed his bride, Theresa A. Capobianco. He took a job with Schenectady Savings Bank as a teller and worked his way up to Vice President at the time of his retirement in 1990. James served as Boys Scouts Pack 54 and Troop 54 Scout Leader for more than 30 years. James loved golfing, camping, fishing and RV-ing and his later years, loved to cook. A loving father, together Jim and Theresa raised their five children, James, Joseph (Nickie), Angela Krulls, David and Scott (Brenda). He is also survived by his five grandchildren Matthew, Kiana, Kateri, Tess and Casey and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc 1605 Helderberg Ave Rotterdam on Monday May 1, 2017 from 8:30 am to 10 am. Immediately following a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church Princetown Road Rotterdam. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorial donations may be made to the Community Hospice of Schenectady or the American Cancer Society.
