James “Jim” Mulligan, 87, of Altamont, NY, passed away, Monday , October 9, 2017, at his home. Jim was born on October 16, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to Thomas and Margaret (Kelly) Mulligan. He graduated from Canajoharie High School in 1947, and from the GE apprentice program in 1950. On May 2, 1953, Jim married the former Marilyn Johnson. Jim was employed by GE in Schenectady and concluded his 43 year career as a turbine design draftsman. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Jim built, with his own hands, the family home of 58 years. Jim enjoyed karaoke, bowling, playing cards, pool, corn toss, jarts, square dancing, and golf (even had a hole-in-one). After retirement, Jim enjoyed his time with family and friends and spent many winters at The Villages in Florida. Jim is predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Thomas and Robert. Jim is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, and by four children, James Mulligan and his wife Christine of Waterford, NY, Lori Tarnacki and her husband Jerry of Stuart, FL, Peggy Pullyblank and her husband Jim of West Chester, OH, Daniel Mulligan and his wife Julie, of West Hartford, CT, and seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Joseph, Jay, Shannon, Jessica and Quinn. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a mass on Saturday, October 14, at 10 a.m., at St. Madeline Sophie Church, 3510 Carman Road, Schenectady, NY, followed by a graveside service at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy-Schenectady Road, Schenectady, NY.
