James M. Miller

Mr. James M. Miller, 84, of Rotterdam passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at St Peter’s Hospice Facility with his loving family by his side.

He was born on May 6, 1940, to the late Curtis and Lottie Miller of Schenectady.

Jimmy attended local schools graduating from Mont Pleasant High School, the class of 1957. He went on to become a Sheet Metal Worker in the Capital District. For 37 years, he dedicated his time as an enlisted member of the United States Air National Guard. After retirement, Jimmy was employed as a Security Guard at BOCES where he worked for 20 years until retiring in 2020. On July 12th, 1964, James was united in marriage to Miss Joanne Lomio, together they share 67 wonderful years together.

In his spare time Jimmy enjoyed golfing, tending to his yard, having his morning coffee on the deck, and walking his best friend, Eli. He loved his family and friends, and more than anything, making them laugh with his great sense of humor. And, of course, the New York Giants.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joanne (Lomio) Miller, cherished daughter RaeAnne Miller (Don Cavanaugh), twin brother John Miller, sister Joan Madelone and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Curt Miller, sister Marilyn Case, and special niece Danielle DeMassio.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the St. Peters Hospital’s nursing staff who provided the utmost care and comfort to James.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at DeMarco Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam, NY 12306. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 11:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace 210 Princetown Rd, Schenectady. Following services James will be laid to rest at St Cyril’s Cemetery.
