James D. Bourdeau

ROTTERDAM - James David Bourdeau, 84, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Sunday December 3, 2023. Born in Albany on May 25, 1939, he was the son of the late Clifford and Wilhelmina Bourdeau and a lifelong resident of Rotterdam. A graduate of Draper High School, he joined an apprentice program sponsored by the Sheet Metal Local Union #83, which led to a career as a journeyman and member of Local #83 for 56 years. His drafting career started as an air system designer with Levi Case Co. and retired with Tougher Industries in charge of drafting supervision. In his early years, Jim enjoyed bowling and was a member of several leagues for over 50 years. He bowled 5 perfect games and 5-800 series. His hobbies included building a full-sized Mercedes, camping with his family, fishing, and spending time as a Rotterdam Elks Member for many years. He was also a diehard NY Yankee fan as well as a Giants fan. James is predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Charlotte C. Bourdeau (Reedy) and his son, David J. Bourdeau.

James is survived by his brother, Robert Bourdeau of Albany. He is also survived by his loving daughter Tammy (Nick) Raucci and his grandsons, James (Grace) Raucci and Brendan (Lauren) Raucci, of whom he is very proud. The family would also like to thank his group of wonderful caregivers that had cared for him for the past couple of years. You are all amazing and we love you all. You made it easier for him at home and he loved having you there. We would also like to thank Dorothy and the staff of the Willow section in the Schenectady Center for caring for him for the last couple of months and making his last couple of weeks comfortable and peaceful. Thank you.

Calling hours will be held on Monday December 11th from 10am to 12pm at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, followed by a funeral service at 12pm. He will then be interred in Schenectady Memorial Park. Memorial contributions, in his name, can be made to the Animal Protection Agency, 53 Maple Ave, Scotia, NY 12302.
