Schenectady - James L. Armstrong, 68,went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. Born in Niskayuna, James was the son of the late Douglas and Charlotte Borst Armstrong. He graduated from Scotia Glenville High School in 1972 and was employed with General Electric Telecommunication and Information Processing Operations (TIPO) for several years. He later operated his own landscaping business and was last employed as a manger with McDonald’s in Schenectady. James was a devoted leader with the Scotia Fire Departments Explorer Post # 724 for many years. He was also a member of Open Arms Church and volunteered with the food pantry at Trinity Baptist Church in Niskayuna and the Lighthouse in Duanesburg. He is survived by his brother Wayne (Mary) Armstrong of Rotterdam, his sisters, Joyce Scott of Ballston Spa and Janice Myrick of Tulsa, OK, as well as several nieces and nephews. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday from 10 – 11 am at Open Arms Church, 2714 Curry Rd. Funeral services will begin at 11 am at the church. Burial will be at Memory’s Garden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Regional Food Bank, 965 Albany Shaker Rd. Latham, NY 12110.
