Rotterdam - Irving R. Tenney, 88, of Rotterdam, passed peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 9, 2021 with his loving family at his side. Irving was a lifelong Rotterdam resident and attended Draper High School. He served honorably in the U. S. Navy and was discharged in 1956. Irving worked as an Electrician with General Electric for over 30 years where he was known as “Sparky”. He was a member of the Rotterdam Elks, the Iroquois Rod and Gun Club and was a life member of the Carman Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, camping with family and friends and taking special vacations with his wife and children. He was also an avid Yankee fan. Irving’s beloved wife Noreen, whom he married on December 8, 1962, passed away in 2015. He was also predeceased by his parents, Irving and Lillian Jackson Tenney and sisters, Betty Moak and Virginia Tupman-Green. He is survived by his daughter, Sherri (Al) Tenney of Ballston Spa, his son Robert Tenney (Dawn) of Scotia, three grandchildren, Taylor of Florida, Shane and Matthew, his two cats, Vargo and Felix, several nieces and nephews as well as many friends. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 6-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 am. Burial, with military honors, will be at Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave. Schenectady, NY 12302. State mandate requires masks be worn inside the funeral home.
