Rotterdam- Irma (Pizzuti) Piccola, 91, passed away at home, on Tuesday September 25, 2012, with her loving family by her side. Irma was born in Carpinone, Italy, the daughter of the late Carmello and Gelsomina Gordina Pizzuti. She came to this area from Italy at the age of 7, attending Schenectady Schools. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. Irma began her employment years as a factory worker at the Mica Company and later in the same capacity at General Electric, where she retired. She was a long time communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Irma was a wonderful mother, a hard worker and she will be loved and missed by all who knew her. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank M. Piccola (1995); beloved mother of Michael Piccola and Toni Ann Bascue; loving grandmother of Gina Marie (Jason) Winkler; loving great grandmother of Lucas Winkler; beloved sister of Vicky and Mary Pizzuti and the late Joseph Pizzuti and Caroline Laurenzo. Irma was the beloved aunt to her loving nieces and nephews, David, Carol, Mark, Laura and Joseph. Calling hours will be held Friday September 28 from 6 to 8pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin Saturday 8:15am at the funeral home, followed at 9am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1260 Pleasant St. Schenectady. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville. Contributions in Irma's memory may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church or Community Hospice of Schenectady.
