Irene Musto, 86, of Schenectady passed away on February 9th. Irene was born in Poland on January 28, 1940 to the late John and Leokadia Zdunczyk. Irene came to the United States in 1949 and resided in Schenectady for 77 years.
Irene graduated from Linton High School and went on to work for the NYS Department of State until her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, painting, and she liked visiting the casino to try her luck on the slot machines. Irene attended church often and valued the sense of community it brought to her life.
Irene loved bringing her family together, especially for dinners and holiday celebrations. She took great pride in hosting Thanksgiving Dinner each year, creating traditions and memories around her table.
Above all, Irene treasured her family. She was a devoted wife to Charles Musto for 63 years and a loving mother to Donna (Thomas) Juers of Rotterdam, NY, Joseph Musto (Christine Owen) of Shorewood, WI, and Linda (Jacob) Picard of Foxboro, MA. She was a proud grandmother to Meredith (Daniel) Malec, Gabrielle Juers, Penelope Musto, and Ava Picard, and great-grandma to Everly and Harper Malec. She was very proud of her children and granddaughters who grew up to be caring and responsible adults who cherish spending time with family.
Irene is survived by her sisters Christine Moore and Cecilia Philippone, sister-in-law Gale Zdunczyk, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Charles, brother Zygmunt Zdunczyk, sister-in-law Roberta Craig, brothers-in-law Charles Moore, Frank Philippone, Thomas Musto, and Norman Craig, and nephew Roger Craig.
