Inez M (Conte) Kern

Schenectady - Inez M. Kern, 93, passed away on Tuesday December 30, 2014. Born in Pittsfield, Mass., Inez was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Pierina Cazavalen Conte. Early in her life Inez worked in the laboratory of the General Electric Co. She then married Edward A. Kern in 1948 and they moved to Schenectady where she was a homemaker. Inez earned her life-masters in bridge, loved crafts and also had a small art collection. She was active with the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake women's club for many years. Inez was also an avid bowler for over 30 years and was a volunteer at the election polls. Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Benjamin Conte and her sisters, Mary Sienkiewicz and Anita Chapman. Inez is survived by her two daughters; Carol (Dean) Schroll and Jean (Tony) Ceniviva. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m Saturday at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A calling hour from 10-11 a.m. will precede the service. Burial will follow at Sweetman Cemetery, Charlton. The family would like to thank the staff at Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice for all their care and kindness.
