Schenectady - Immacolata Iacobucci, 73, passed away peacefully February 11, 2022, surrounded by her sons, daughter-in-law, and husband; after a long, heartbreaking battle with Alzheimer’s, at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. Born March 25, 1948, the daughter of the late Francesco and Maria Marotta, Imma spent the first half of her life in her beloved hometown of Limatola, Italy, where much of her family still resides. She met her husband Nicholas Iacobucci while he was visiting family in Italy. They married in 1973 and traveled to various assignment posts while Nick served in the Air Force. They finally settled in Nick’s childhood home in Schenectady, NY where she devoted her time to her husband, home, church and raising their sons, Joshua and Daniel. They remained in that home until the untimely onset of Imma’s Alzheimer’s disease when she was moved to Daughters of Sarah. Imma was known as someone who would welcome anyone into her home and her heart, cooking huge Italian meals and hosting many occasions for friends and family. Known to many of her son’s childhood friends as ‘mama,’she was a friend to everyone she met, full of kindness and love. She was a faithful and longtime member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Schenectady, NY. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Michael Marotta, Limatola Italy. Left to cherish her memory are her husband: Nicholas Iacobucci, Schenectady, NY; her sons, Joshua (Tammy) Iacobucci, Glenville, NY; and Daniel Iacobucci, Albany, NY. She also leaves a legacy of three grandchildren: Arianna, Autumn and Luca Iacobucci. Imma is also survived by a large and loving family, both in the US and in Italy. Calling hours will begin on Wednesday, February 16 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St, Schenectady. A procession to the Saratoga National Cemetery for committal service at 1:30 p.m.
