Guilderland, NY-Howard F Jacobson, 77, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 24, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jake was a 1955 graduate of Guilderland Central High School and a 1962 graduate of Union College.He was employed for 34 years as a Civil Engineer at NYSDOT and after retiring from DOT continued working as an engineer for Vollmer Associates.After his retirement, he and his wife were in charge of the Guilderland Interfaith Council Food Pantry for 7 years, and he also held the position of Secretary/Treasurer for Prospect Hill Cemetery Associations for 7 years.Jake was an avid hunter and enjoyed many seasons out in the woods with family and friends.He was a long time member of the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church, and served as an Elder. He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Glendora Jacobson, and by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Jane Jacobson.Survivors include his wife, Lynda of 44 years, and six children - Judy Reed (Terry), Janice Jacobson (Adam Myers), Daniel Jacobson, Michael Jacobson, Mark Jacobson (Dawn) all of Altamont, and Laura Malvey (Tom) of VA.He is survived by two sisters, Betty Bluto and Marilyn Kaddarrass, brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws, Marilyn & Henry Rausch and Dick & Sharon Finch, and his uncle and aunt, Willard & Andrea Ebert.He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including Bob and Joe Jacobson, and many cousins. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for all of the care Jake received from Dr. Dudek, and his staff at NYOH, and Community Hospice.Special thanks to Lindsey, Nettie and Anna for all of the compassion and care they gave him these last 3 months. The Jacobson family will receive relatives and friends at the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church, 2291 Western Ave., Guilderland on Monday September 28, 2015 from 10:30 am until 12 noon.Funeral service will commence at 12 noon also on Monday, at the church with Pastor M. J. Pattison, officiating.
