Schenectady – Henry W. Polgreen passed away at home on Monday, September 6th, 2021 just a few days shy of his 80th birthday. Henry was born in Albany to his parents, the late Waldron Polgreen and Frances Dorn Polgreen. He grew up in Esperance, graduating from Schoharie High School and SUNY Cobleskill. Henry served in the Army National Guard in 1964 during the Vietnam War and in the reserves from 1965-1972. For 32 years, Henry worked at the General Electric Company, retiring as a die setter. Henry was an outgoing, friendly and eccentric person who had a passion for collecting antiques and antique fans. He also had an affinity for Volkswagens. In his spare time he enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. Henry took part in raising his granddaughter, Christina, a time which he remembered fondly. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Shirley Templeton Polgreen, whom he married on January 9th, 1977; his step-children, Deborah Hajjar (Camille), Dana Palleschi and Darlene Lawyer (Keith); grandchildren, Nathaniel Polgreen, Christina Merwin (Ian), Adam Lawyer, Matthew Lawyer, Deanna Hajjar and April Buechner; his daughter-in-law, Katie Polgreen; siblings, Tobias Polgreen (Ruth) and Helen Foss and sister-in-law, Eunice Polgreen. He also leaves behind dear friends, Yolanda and Scott Raffan. Henry was predeceased by his beloved son, David Polgreen; step-daughter, Deanna Preddice; son-in-law, Oliviero Palleschi; brother, Richard Polgreen and brother-in-law, Leon Foss. Services will be held privately. Henry will be laid to rest at Hagaman Mills Cemetery.
