Niskayuna – Helen G. De Marzio, 89, passed away peacefully at her home on August 20, 2018 with her loving family by her side after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s and Diabetes. Helen graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1947 where she earned several awards for her outstanding artistic abilities. After graduation she worked for General Electric Co. for a few years. She married the love of her life, Lou on June 10, 1951 and began raising their family while pursuing her at home career as an amazing seamstress. She dedicated her life to her family; she will always be remembered for her love, generosity and of course her amazing cooking especially her display of Christmas cookies around the holidays. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Louis (Lou) De Marzio of Niskayuna; her four devoted children, Lou Ann (Dick) Aceto of Niskayuna; Laureen (Bruce) Skala of Clifton Park; Mark De Marzio of Chesterfield, VA and Peter (Grace) De Marzio of Niskayuna. She had 10 grandchildren whom she loved very much, Nicole (Joe) Nicholas, Kristen (Steve) Mancini, Luke and Andre Skala, Alex, Tony, Nicholas, Mark and David De Marzio and Louis (Jen) De Marzio. She also had 3 great-grandchildren that she adored, Joseph and Gisella Nicholas and Stephen Mancini. Helen is also survived by her sisters and brother - in laws, Virginia Romleski and Marlene (Louis) Mangino. She was predeceased by her sister Irene Willyoung and brother -in-law Cyril Romleski. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at St. Peters and Ellis Hospital for the care she received over this past year. Also, a special thank you to Community Hospice for their support during this difficult time. Calling hours are on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin 8 a.m. on Monday August 27 at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha, Rosa Rd. Burial will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery.
