Helen E. Clark, 82, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
Born on June 16, 1943, in Cobleskill, New York, Helen was the daughter of Clarence Henry Markel and Margaret (Kilts) McDuffee. She spent her childhood in Berne, Esperance, and Delanson, forming the strong roots and values that would guide her throughout her life.
Helen shared 66 loving years of marriage with her devoted husband, William H. Clark, who predeceased her. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and love.
She is survived by her three children, William H. Clark, Jr. (Terri Clark), Kurt Clark (Rosalie Clark), and Jodi Decker (Alan Decker); her brother, Bruce Markel and sister, Joan Robinson; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several cherished nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Helen was predeceased by her siblings, Lawrence Markel, Patsy Herzog, and Clarence Markel.
Helen dedicated many years of her life as a cook for the Schalmont Central Schools. A talented cook and baker, she also catered numerous events over the years. Her greatest joy was expressing her love through food, always making sure family and friends were well fed and welcomed.
In retirement, Helen and her husband spent many winters in Nokomis, Florida, where she treasured time with friends from across the country. She had a curious spirit and loved learning new crafts, as well as enjoying late-night card games filled with laughter and companionship.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Schenectady, NY.
A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Woestina Cemetery, immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice, in Helen's memory.
