Harold F. Sadler Jr., 93, of Rotterdam, NY passed away on Sunday August 4, 2024 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born on April 20, 1931 in Johnson City, NY to the late Mildred and Harold Sadler Sr.
Harold was a 1949 graduate of Johnson City High School and went on to attend Broome County Community College where he graduated in 1951. In August of that year he began working at GE in Drafting and Stress Analysis of Submarine Motors and Hydro Generators. During this time he was also attending Union College Evening Division Courses.
On August 2, 1952 Harold was married to Margaret Croinex, together they raised three children.
Harold was employed by GE for 40 years and retired as Manager of Corporate Computer Application Development. During his time there he was a Member of the GE Quarter Century Club, the GE Elfun Society, 1975 Oneida Chapter Man of The Year, and in 1976 he was nominated for the GE Gerald L. Phillippe award for distinguished public service.
Outside of GE he was Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 49, Advisor of Computer Explorer Post 635, an active member of Rotterdam District #2 Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Squad for 42 years, past Fire Chief, Charter member of Rotterdam Fire Chiefs Association, and Past Deputy State Fire Coordinator for Schenectady County. Harold was also a member of Winnebago WIT camping club, he enjoyed bowling and bowled in the Rotterdam District #2 League for 56 years, loved to play golf in the TIPO league and the FSBK League, and had three holes in one during his lifetime.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Margaret Sadler, his daughter Deborah Lachance, son Bruce (Carol) Sadler, and daughter Denise Roemelt, as well as eight grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Harold's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at DeMarco Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam NY 12306. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at DeMarco Stone Funeral Home. Harold will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery & Memorial Park following services.
