Columbia, S.C. - Harold "Harry" Noyes, 96 passed away peacefully at home, Nov. 18, 2025 and is now rejoicing, seeing his Savior, Jesus Christ. Harry was born in Rutland, VT, Sept 12, 1929 to Frank and Ellen Noyes. He graduated from Nott Terrace High school in Schenectady, NY in 1949 and served in the U.S. Navy, 1951-52. Harry married the love of his life, G. Janet Pelton in 1953 and was married almost 64 years. They filled their home in Niskayuna NY, with four children: Larry (Kimberly) Noyes, of KY, Deborah (Allen) Cromer, of N.C., Karen (Vince) Justus of Castleton NY, and Steven (Paula) Noyes of S.C.
Harry worked at Freihofer's Baking Co. for 32 yrs. He began working when Freihofer's was transitioning from horse drawn wagons to delivery trucks. He was truly a faithful worker, dedicating himself through long, hard working hours, until his retirement in 1987. (His first retirement).
Then Harry was asked to come work at the Niskayuna Co-op, which was one of the stores he had serviced while at Freihofer's, and worked fulltime for 27years. While at work on his 90th birthday, still managing the dairy department, the store management and staff graciously surprised him with a big 90th birthday celebration that was featured on the local TV news.
Harry had an inviting, easy going personality and he never met a stranger. He was an avid Mets fan and in his youth excelled in several sports; Football, Basketball, Baseball and Speed Skating. He was a 3-Letter varsity athlete in Highschool and a competitive Speed Skater. After Highschool and before he was drafted into the US Navy, Harry was blessed to play AA Baseball for the Schenectady Moose's under MLB amateur talent scout Henry "Hank" Caputo; longtime Schenectady Baseball Club President and GM., before being drafted into the Navy to serve in the Korean war. Due to life threating injuries he sustained from an auto accident during first year in the Navy, his dream of advancing his baseball career sadly came to an end. Later, he served and coached baseball in the Niskayuna Little league and Babe Ruth leagues for 12 years enjoying much success and league championships with his son's, but most valued were the friendships with players and families that have lasted his lifetime.
He also worked several years at DeMarco-Stone Funeral home helping out on funerals and taking care of outdoor flowers, until he was 90. He also enjoyed building birdhouses and selling them, hundreds of them, at his material cost, never wanting to take a profit.
Harry was a past member and Deacon at East Glenville Community Church in Glenville NY. He was also a past member of Faith Baptist Church in Rexford, NY and Trinity Baptist Church in Niskayuna NY, where he loved to usher and greet everyone. He and his wife Janet, early on, enjoyed family vacations camping in the Adirondacks of NY with several church family friends for many years, and later in life he and his wife found their favorite family vacation place on Drake Island,Wells, MA. which they were blessed to do for 20 plus years.
In addition to his children, Harry is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, his sister Carol Jean Noyes of Scotia, sisters in law Delores Crowley of CA. and Helen Crounse of Guilderland, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Monday, Dec. 8, from 10-12 at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady. Services will begin at 12 noon at the funeral home.
