Schenectady – Gwendolyn M. Maxim, age 95, passed away on Friday, July 28th, 2023.
Gwendolyn was born in Schenectady to her parents, the late Ralph Perry Spellman and Marguerite (Hunnikin) Spellman.
Gwen graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1946 and worked as a clerk at a Christian book store and as a home health aide.
Greatly devoted to her faith, Gwen was a member of Faith Baptist and an adherent member of Calvary Tabernacle and First Presbyterian Church. She lived her life in service of others and her Lord. She was a humble and mild soul but a prayer warrior for family, friends and those in need. She loved adventuring in nature and travel, reading, and used talking books as her vision faded. Her grandchildren and great- grands were her joy in life.
She leaves behind her children, Jonathan (Jackie) Maxim and Hannah (James) Pavoldi; grandchildren, Jennifer (Robert) Middlesworth, Joanna Maxim, Julie Rutherford, James M. Pavoldi, Nicholas D. Pavoldi; great grandchildren, Jessica, Julie, Daniel, Brianna, Nefeli, Electra, James, Ophelia, Rafaella, Everest and Riley; and special friends, Bob and Marty Stevens and Janeth Tyson.
Calling hours will take place on Friday from 10am to 11am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam with a service to follow, beginning at 11am.
Burial will be in Park View Cemetery, Schenectady.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to City Mission of Schenectady, 425 Hamilton St., Schenectady, NY 12305.
