Gwendolyn Gabriel

Guilderland – Gwendolyn Gabriel, 87, passed away Tuesday September 26, 2023. Born in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Madelyn Scott.

Gwendolyn lived the majority of her life in Rotterdam, NY. She loved her summers in Lake George camping on the islands. She enjoyed being outdoors and spending time skiing. Gwendolyn was an avid reader and loved animals, especially her dogs.

Gwendolyn studied nursing in college and eventually attained a Bachelor’s degree.  She worked as a visiting nurse, a Hospice nurse and as a nurse practitioner for a cancer center. She continued taking college courses into her 60’s.

Her husband, Peter J. Gabriel Sr. died in 1998.

She leaves behind her two children Lisa (Michael) Grzeskowiak and Peter J. (Tyra) Gabriel Jr.

She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren Matthew, Kevin and Steven (Jodi) Grzeskowiak, Peter J. Gabriel III, Michael Corbett and Madeline Duke.

Calling hours will be held from 9-11 am Saturday at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam.

A prayer service will immediately follow at 11 am.

Burial will follow at St. Cyril’s Cemetery.
